Welcome to my page! It's a work in progress, but have a look around :)
// about

Hi, I'm Eric. I created this space as a protest against my relationship with modern social media. A space unconstrained from the limitations of a grid, the endless scrolling, or an algorithm. One not tied to photos and short form videos only. A little corner of the internet I can stake my claim in for my own self expression.

Does anyone else miss the MySpace or LiveJournal days, where we would rip HTML code from whatever sketchy website we could find and paste it into our pages? A low-res image background spam repeated across the whole page, custom cursors, and ridiculous fonts in diabolically difficult to read color pallets. It's interesting those old MySpace pages no longer exist. Maybe some old images you could find, but our pages are just gone. And most importantly, the feeling of internet from that time is gone. When the internet really felt like an endless place to discover something new. I mean c'mon. StumbleUpon was the height of human acheivement.

At some point I thought to myself, "what if we just bring back MySpace?". Like as raw as it used to be, but also a version with custom widgets people could create and share with eachother. But then I thought, "do we really need another social media site?" Also, I just don't know if people would have the patience to create their own spaces like that anymore. That's when I discovered there was in fact a whole community of personal indie websites. And they truly are fascinating pieces of self expression.

I figured I'd give it a go. So here's my little space.
